The California Invention Convention is always in need of helpful volunteers of all ages. If you are passionate about helping students learn, enabling their inquisitive and creative nature, or just love kids and innovation, you’re the perfect person to get involved.
To keep our costs low and our student scholarships as high as possible, the Invention Convention relies on our very small staff and a talented pool of local volunteers. No matter what your age or profession, if you love working with students and believe in the importance of teaching our youth critical thinking skills, we’d love to talk with you about a role as a volunteer on our team.
Looking to fulfill hours with your service club or internship with a great non-profit organization? We welcome high school and college student volunteers as well!

Be a Judge!!
Our volunteer judges consistently tell us that judging is a rewarding and inspirational experience for them. And the proof is that they come back year after year. Our student inventors value judge feedback and many use that feedback to improve their invention and their communication.
The basic requirements for being a judge is that you are able to attend the event and you are interested in listening to these young inventors and are willing to provide encouraging and helpful feedback. You can learn more about being a judge at Find a Competition. Follow the links for your county as each each regional event has different requirements.
Our friends at the Ohio Invention League created a 4 minute video that clearly describes the requirements, the experience and the impact of being a judge.
We only ask that if you are interested in learning more you contact us - not Ohio (!!) - and include your town and county in California.

Be an Event Volunteer!!
We could not put on our Invention Conventions without the help of our Event Volunteers! Our needs range from reviewing student submissions prior to the event, to helping to set up, folding T-shirts, stuffing backpacks and inventor folders, to the actual day of the event where volunteers check in the inventors and the judges, escort families to the convention floor etc. etc. You can learn more about being an Event Volunteer at Find a Competition.
Each event has its own needs - but each event needs Event Volunteers. To learn more, contact us and include your town and county in California.
