Overview

We are so excited that the California Railroad Museum in Sacramento has invited us back for another year! Our 2024 and 2025 conventions at this venue were such successes — and we are so fortunate to be able to hold our 2026  event there on Saturday April 18, 2026.

2026 Schedule

The schedule for the 2026 California Invention Convention: Northern / Central Region is as follows:

11/17/25 – 1/21/26  Teacher and School Registration - Go to Teacher Registration

1/29/26 - Student Registration Opens - Go to Student Registration

2/4/26 – Judge Registration Opens -  - Go to Judge Registration

2/11/26 – Event Volunteer Registration Opens - Go to Event Volunteer Registration

3/26/26 – Judge Registration Closes

4/2/26 – Student Registration Closes - all required materials (video, pictures, logbook) submitted through the registration system

4/2/26– Event Volunteer Registration Closes

4/18/26 – California Invention Convention: Northern/Central Region
- 8:00 AM – Judge & Student Check-in opens
- 8:45 AM – Judge Training
- 9:45 AM – All students checked in and standing with inventions on convention floor
- 10:00 AM – Judges meet with students on convention floor
- 11:00 AM-12:30 PM – Judge deliberation.  Students must remain on convention floor
- 12:30 – 1:00 PM – Students take down inventions and clear convention floor

4/24/26 – Virtual Awards Show begins at 6 PM. Details to be provided later

Regional Invention Convention Sponsors

In the Regional Event, corporations, individuals and organizations have the opportunity to sponsor prizes for a particular industry or special achievement. The sponsor can work with CAIC to choose the winning invention (s). Additionally, sponsors help pay the costs of the event.
